On September 5th, 2017 at 6:00 pm the atmosphere in front of North County Mall was palpable!

I like this word as it perfectly describes the feeling that was alive that evening when we joined to support DACA! It was just announced that Trump would not be supporting the childhood arrivals who had come to the United States as children. ‘The Dreamers’ who are OUR children! About 200 people came together to protest this decision. Families came, many different political groups, people who were passing us in their cars parked and joined us! It was an evening to remember as we really felt like a community! People formed groups on either side of the entrance to the mall. On the west side of Via Rancho Parkway the DACA supporters stretched to the freeway overpass. The passing cars amplified our efforts, the drivers honked their horns and gave us enthusiastic ‘thumbs up!’
One sign carried by a man was very meaningful to me, “YOU’LL NEVER HAVE THE COMFORT OF OUR SILENCE AGAIN. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!” And that is why we hold signs, chant slogans, and come together and give each other support – we can no longer be silent because when you are silent you are giving your approval.
We are NOT OK with our government’s decisions – We Protest!
